Kinston is in the process of reinventing itself in the wake of the departure of textile, big tobacco and 20th century manufacturing concerns.
This DIY group is intended to help identify the issues driving change in Kinston, the resources available to support change, and the vision of what we want the change to accomplish.
Change, in and of iteself is neither good nor bad. Change is inevitable. By discussing what we want, we stand a better chance of getting it. By deciding what is of value to our community, we have a mark against which to evaluate ideas. In short, the future we get is a direct result of what we do and what we buy today.
The Golden Leaf Foundation is holding a community forum at LCC's Waller Auditorium, July 13th at 6:00pm.
The purpose of the forum is to inventory and discuss key issues and assets that are important to Lenoir County. The meeting is part of the Community Assistance Initiative, a grantmaking process targeting economically distressed communities across North Carolina.
