DIY Bikeshare in Portland?

Greetings DIY Portland!

I don't know how many of you are following along on the conversations happening in the Discussions group, but there is an interesting idea there for a Cooperative Bike Share that is sort of a grassroots, low-cost method for creating a municipal bikesharing program.

It made me think of Portland for some reason.

Do you guys have a bike sharing program there, or one about to launch, and if not do you think Portland would be a good testbed for this (awesome) idea?

what a cool idea!

There are not any bike sharing operations in PDX so far. I know there was one a way back called yellow bikesbut it sounds freaking radical!

I will tune into the conversation and I will pass the info along as well!

Awesome. If you know of any groups who would be willing to take on the on-the-ground organization of something like this in PDX, getting a few bikes together and such, put them in touch with DIYcity so we can discuss.

And we can figure out the coding end of things on our end to help get it off the ground.

I'll ping this group again next week and we can coordinate.
