Our page on the wiki:
Possible project ideas:
CityCouncil2RSS - A lot of what council does is put online, but it would be nice if we had some feeds and such. I've also experimented with automatically adding contextual links into things like the meeting minutes.
Local Food Distribution - This is just a vague notion right now, but maybe something could be done to coordinate local farmers in new ways to get their goods to different types of consumers like restaurants. Inspiration here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CinciLocavore/message/3162
cincinnati twitter bots - ideas for bots welcome
Cincinnati Wiki - http://wiki.hereincincinnati.net (admittedly something of a pet project for me, but would love to get others involved).
hackerspace / co-working space / free geek / tool library / free culture shop - big benefits in having a real-world space in which to work and share ideas.
local currency app - we could do a local instance of this open source local currency web app: http://www.opensourcecurrency.org/
other suggestions welcome!
I just wanted to let the Cincinnati people know that I have successfully (knock on wood) set up an instance of the DIYtraffic bot for Cincinnati. It can be found at:
Like all DIYtraffic bots it's getting it's traffic data from Yahoo. Also, it will respond to driect messages with traffic info on specific streets (if there is any). I've also plugged it into twittbot.com so it will re-tweet @replies it gets.
If you're on twitter, check it out. So far it hasn't tweeted anything about traffic, because I don't think there are any accidents or anything in our area.
I'll keep you posted on how it goes if anything of interest happens with this.
